BRIAN RUPP

About me

I'm a senior brand strategist and creative director with a unique combination of writing, design, and leadership skills. I work with company leaders to articulate their vision, establish brand fundamentals, and develop activation strategies for making brand aspirations a reality. My approach emphasizes research, open dialogue, and careful listening to gain true insight—the basis for sound strategy and inspired creative.

Over the past 20 years I've earned a reputation as a collaborative consensus builder and trusted advisor to my clients, someone who thrives under pressure steering complex projects from conception to completion. I've led both in-house and agency teams in the development of comprehensive brand platforms; verbal, visual, and sonic identity systems; holistic brand activation strategies; and multi-channel communication campaigns for a range of clients in the technology, healthcare, music, banking, and apparel industries.

Clients rely on me to communicate clearly and persuasively, whether it's in the context of facilitating brand workshops, directing creative teams, presenting high-level strategies to boards, or inspiring and uniting employees around a compelling vision for the company brand.

Professional Background

Prior to founding Rupphaus, I served as SVP of Brand Communications at CD Baby, Downtown Music Holding’s flagship music distribution and artist-services platform. While there, I led brand refreshes and oversaw marketing, design, and social engagement teams for both CD Baby and Soundrop.

Before CD Baby, I was co-founder, creative director, and lead strategist at Brand Timbre, where I developed sonic branding strategies and customer engagement campaigns for Kaiser Permanente, Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear, AAA, Blue Shield of California, and Illumina.

Previous to Brand Timbre, I served as creative director and senior strategist at both Rumblefish and ID Branding, where I led a range of brand development and communication projects for Microsoft, Intel, Kodak, Tektronix, Pabst, Unilever, The Boston Beer Company, National Australia Bank, and National Wildlife Federation.

While at ID, I served as creative director for development of Intel's Brand Portal, Intel's global brand management platform. I also served as creative lead on the re-brand of Kodak Health Group, including naming, messaging, and development of a visual identity system and comprehensive brand guidelines—work that helped Kodak sell its medical imaging group for $2.35 billion.
